1. Lessen the potion for the people
And counter greed with despair

2. And be content if fate is not with you
With the dregs from the bottom of the cup

3. And beware of the sons of Adam and feel close
To whichever beast or snake you wish

4. And never argue with an utter fool
Even if you are the son of Al-'Abbas

5. A person does not leave their morals
Willingly even if dragged with ropes

6. Do not tire as long as you live of good manners
With gentleness and meekness

7. And the essence of the matter and the best path
Is in silence or speech with justice

8. And whenever you are given a blessing
Hide it from people's eyes
