1. I recalled Kisra bin Sasan's treaty
And his halting the rivers at midday

2. So one day when the sun halted as a dwelling
I stopped by it, then bent to seek the opposite

3. And I accompanied it until it leaned down
Spilling into sunset time without mishap

4. I took its arm gently with its treaty
In words that would undo Kisra's army or Persia's

5. I jested with it alone though if I had
A trusted brother I'd play with my own soul

6. By God it's not miserliness in it but what
I fear most is mixing with what's not my kind
