1. How strange that I'm a poet
Yet the speech of the wilderness is more poetic

2. If they bet my poetry and me
And what's in notebooks and ink

3. For a day's food, they'd take back the bets
And head to the money on the table

4. Alas the time of poverty is forbidden
Forbidden, forbidden, how vile it is

5. If the life of a young man is like this
Then death is better than a life buried
