1. I've come to hate stretching my livelihood to the brink,
And love whatever preserves life with continuity and harmony,

2. That protects people from poverty,
Whether shod or barefoot,

3. Especially since I have no heir
Except in cemeteries.

4. Why not when fate has cast
The dice for good and bad?

5. I've stood lamenting the past
In both prose and verse,

6. And agreed to live out my remaining days
Simply and congenially,

7. To count the days I have left
Among dear friends and intimates,

8. Clad in the raiment of piety,
Girt in the garment of chastity,

9. So I'll be praised when carried
To my wedding with the soil,

10. And when I return to my Maker,
He is sufficient for me.
