1. One day I drank wine
And disobeyed passion and shunned reproach

2. And I sipped from a goblet slowly
Oh, woe to those who repent from wine

3. And I sang happily in verse
That made the old man full of youth to frolic

4. Oh youth that's gone so I replaced it with gray hair
If only gray hair would return to being youth

5. My stance in reality contradicts them
Though I see them as loved ones

6. They jest in sayings and opinions as though pliable and affected
And I entertain them and laugh inwardly

7. I pretend while knowing what is right
