1. The lion pounces, and above the pounce a lamb
And a man's pounce is death, with hope above it

2. One is provoked by a sheep's bleat from afar
While the other is fooled by hopes and fate

3. Blessed is God, and proverbs are true
A beaten hope, with work above it

4. And every living thing whose life God lengthens
Has a cause of death that pulls out its fate
