1. Man suffers misfortune that leaves him lacking,
The astrologer completes it through calculations.

2. And takes from it a root, far from speech,
Which he embellishes like a mirage's deception.

3. He justifies himself through greed and fear,
Like the justification of the blackened with kohl.

4. If he left misfortunes to run their course,
The torment alone would suffice for torment.

5. His calculations cannot protect him from misfortune,
Can calculations ever divert misfortune?

6. Youth does not delay the advent of old age,
Nor does old age hasten the days of youth.
