1. Shawqi Abu Ishaq disturbs me
And seeing your face would relieve me

2. Do not blame me for leaning
On estrangement or foolish impulsiveness

3. And I say listen to the words of one excusing himself
Not the words of one in need of argument

4. My excuse to you makes up for my limp
And your excuse removes any discomfort

5. So the two excuses are equal
Between blindness and the time of limping
