1. These days are but a loan, enjoy them
For the one who borrows will return them

2. Do not think that they will remain
For even if they last, the borrower is lost

3. All that is new, made by the hand of destruction
Is lent to people coming anew

4. Between the two fates are wonders
That the mind reaches yet remains ignorant

5. So there is no climber or ladder
To rise above except one with arms outstretched

6. Life and death and separation and unity
Misfortune and fortune and the fortunate are joyous

7. And the center of one's reason are God's gifts
In them standing and reaped

8. It is the essence remaining, it is fate and prohibition
If sound, saves from passion and renews

9. It is religion and faith and dreams if perturbed
And frenzied to knowledge it returns

10. It is the rope extended to God so hold fast
For no rope but it is outstretched

11. Severe on man for he lost his life
And what was lost of its refinement is aimed well
