1. When my mind was cleared to examine thought,
And knowledge and proof became evident,

2. I found most people opposed
My nature, qualities and status.

3. I was glad to leave the ignorant ones go astray,
For opposites quickly part ways.

4. None wished me well but one of my own kind,
A refined, eloquent man of wisdom.

5. When the virtuous ones wished me well,
Poets and scholars from near and far,

6. I was gladdened by the affection of these nobles,
And paid no heed to the common throng.
