1. I have been patient with the turns of fate
Though it has pained me and life burdens me

2. I asked for wealth as a means but grew weary
While the frozen is inclined from perseverance

3. So I care not for all the wealth of the land
Save what the Bountiful provides me each day

4. A garment to clothe myself and provision
And God's promise followed by warning

5. I wanted wealth to protect me from toil
But the Lord of the Throne does as He wills

6. I submitted patiently to God's will
Though it pains even the steadfast

7. So the wise embrace patience resolutely
With no refuge from tribulations

8. I say to those blaming and causing me harm
There is no fault in predestined fate

9. Why should I complain when each new day
Brings renewed provision for me

10. If I am thankful in my patience
Then with God there is only increase

11. I was created to live generously and with praise
Wealth suffices me from exertion

12. Times of ease and times of woe
No lasting joy or gladness

13. To whom do I belong and follow
The lofty goals while life itself is fuel

14. And people today have forsaken ideals
Inclining to greed and withholding

15. I have shaken them with my verses yet they withheld
Can iron be made soft to its time?

16. Men who envy you for a pittance
While they have riches and slaves

17. They limit their generosity though they are kings
And the tribulations make them stingier

18. They have wealth but lack noble spirits
So how can the envious aid me?

19. My joy is in keeping safe from matters
That would entrap the fool and incompetent
