Tell me when will the maiden be pleased,

قل لي متى العذراء ترضى

1. Tell me when will the maiden be pleased,
And the yearning lover's suffering eased,

١. قُل لي مَتى العذراءُ تَرضى
وَلبانةُ المُشتاقِ تُقضى

2. And when shall I behold my cheek's rose,
By its dust as an earing for earth imposed,

٢. وَمَتى أشاهدُ وجنَتي
بِتُرابها للأرضِ أرضا

3. And visit, then, Muhammad,
The best of all, in part and whole.

٣. وَأزورُ ثمَّ محمّداً
خير الوَرى كلّاً وبعضا

4. The steward of mankind, God's trustee,
The Maker's vicar for all to see,

٤. مَولى الخلائقِ نائبِ ال
خلّاق إِبراماً ونقضا

5. No issue did he ever advance
Unless by the Merciful endorsed in essence.

٥. لَم يقضِ قطّ قضيّةً
إلّا لَها الرحمنُ أمضى

6. God made his long-standing loyalty,
Among the messengers a duty.

٦. جَعل الإلهُ من القدي
مِ ولاءَه في الرسلِ فرضا

7. He spread his faith throughout the land,
And let it reach both far and grand,

٧. عمَّ البسيطةَ دينهُ
وَسَرى بِها طولاً وعرضا

8. Counsel he gave with good intent,
When unto all the truth he sent.

٨. مَحَضَ النصيحةَ للورى
إِذ جاءَهم بالحقّ مَحضا

9. He cured those plagued by misguidance and,
Ignorance, deadened and made ill.

٩. وَشفَى منَ الضلّال وال
جهّالِ أَمواتاً ومرضى

10. Yet many scorned him, and were rash,
Despite his gentle, noble dash.

١٠. وَلَكم جفاهُ مع اِقتدا
رِ البطشِ ذو جهلٍ فأغضى
