When just yesterday she illuminated our eyelids?

3. So she grew weary of union.. and the moons are temperaments
Fiery.. rarely keeping the promises they make

4. Alas! Lady of the moons! My lady!
Alas! If only the moons could feel what we feel

5. Alas! If only the moons would quench their thirst
At the springs of overwhelming pain as we do

6. Alas! If only the moons would shed our tears
Even if thinking and wakefulness torture them

7. You sailed away, lady of the moons, from a man
Who still sails the depths of him that are latent

8. Worry has dwelt in his eyes.. suspended
And despair has blocked off his life accumulating

9. You came seeking poetry that’s all joy
Songs about a time that’s all comfort

10. Strolls across wellsprings of dreams
In a howdah where pink dew accumulates

11. But you’ve only heard poetry weeping
And only seen man shuddering

12. I am the ambition whose steps are exhausted
You are the ambition the future runs to meet

13. You are youth heading joyfully to weddings
I am old age who one day will have a tomorrow

14. You are life flowing on laughing
To life.. I am death that lurks

15. Do not wonder at a morn where we parted
But wonder at an eve where we are united

16. Beautiful you are.. beauty accompanies you
As flames accompany a moth to meet its fate

17. Beautiful you are.. your emerald eyes do not wane
And on your lips are bounty and nectar

18. Beautiful you are.. in forests of lions
Can there be fear when you are the lioness?

19. It is farewell! So what do you command?
Shall I wail? Be silent? Flee from you? Wilt?

20. Shall I say “Thank you”? ..Was it a gifted night?
O generous one.. when you give freely.. and hold back!

21. Did we meet? Or are fancies toying with me?
Where did we meet? When? Did I dream? Rave?

22. And did we walk together? On which evening?
In which second that bore away eternity?

23. And did you whisper “My love” or did I hear
An echo from the world of jinn that no one uttered?
