11. Beirut! Do not describe the wound to me.. I know it
For it is in my red blood sealed

12. I am the one whom Rome captivated.. the Arabs did not reach me
And the foreigners betrayed me

13. I carried in my liver the pains so I cracked
And fell into despair and trials

14. Oh leaders playing with me.. and I love them
And perhaps loving tyranny is doomed

15. How much they fed me the drink of illusion. How much they ridiculed
Me.. and how much did lies usurp my soul

16. There is no end to the heedlessness with me seasoned
And their tricks did not end with them

17. Beirut! It is us who led you naked
To death screaming in your eyes torture

18. How much imploring lips in you pleaded
And how much chastity from you was robbed

19. So no conscience in our breasts awakened
Numbed on the banks of falsity veiled

20. Until when the executioner laughed.. no
Eye weeped and no sighs of the anguished perturbed

21. You fell and history shuddered cursing us
And the protectors of glory were muted in sorrow

22. We roam behind peace whose dignity we seek
And are bored of his promise the procrastinator cuckoo

23. We lived with humiliation until it was accustomed to our company
We slept on patience until Job exclaimed

24. Whenever one of them slaughtered us
We said: Peace be upon the lofty demanded

25. And whenever the enemy lionized we blessed him
From us a coward to submission pulled

26. The land will only return when the spurt washes it
With blood and fire the day of victory turbulent
