هِجاءَ جَرمٍ وَلَمّا يَهجُهُم أَحَدُ

Indeed, I hold my soul too dear to burden it

I honor my soul too much to blame another

with satirizing Jarm—and no one has yet satirized them.

For any crime, though others attack his name.

ماذا يَقولُ لَهُم من كانَ هاجيَهُم

ماذا يَقولُ لَهُم من كانَ هاجيَهُم

لا يَبلغُ النّاسُ ما فيهم وَإِن جَهَدوا

لا يَبلغُ النّاسُ ما فيهم وَإِن جَهَدوا

What could anyone who satirized them say to them?

What can his slanderers say that harms him,

People cannot encompass what is in them, however hard they try.

When people cannot attain what is within themselves, struggle as they may?
