How welcome is the arrival of the neighbors of al-Naqa!

O welcome to the arrival of good neighbors

Joy became complete through them, and the meeting grew sweet.

Joy has been completed by them and the gathering has become pleasant

أنِست بقربهم المنازلُ واغتدى

أنِست بقربهم المنازلُ واغتدى

وجهُ الزمانِ بهم منيراً مشرِقا

وجهُ الزمانِ بهم منيراً مشرِقا

The homes found comfort in their nearness, and

The houses have become friendly due to their proximity and the face of time has become radiant and bright because of them

The face of time grew radiant and bright through them.

Because of their good fragrance, the morning breeze has become fragrant

ولطيب نشرهمِ تعطرتِ الصبا

ولطيب نشرهمِ تعطرتِ الصبا

وأرى على الدنيا بذلك رونقا

وأرى على الدنيا بذلك رونقا

And their sweet fragrance perfumed the east wind.

And I see elegance on the world because of that

And through this I see a luster upon the world.

So rejoice, O my heart, for you have longed

فبهن يا قلبي تهنَّ فطالما

فبهن يا قلبي تهنَّ فطالما

قد بت نحوهم كئيباً شيِّقا

قد بت نحوهم كئيباً شيِّقا

So rejoice in them, O my heart, for so long

To be near them while being gloomy and worried

You have spent your nights sorrowful, yearning for them.

For the likes of this day you were hopeful

فلمثلِ هذا اليوم كنتَ مؤملاً

فلمثلِ هذا اليوم كنتَ مؤملاً

وإليه كنت على المدى متشوقا

وإليه كنت على المدى متشوقا

For you had been hoping for a day like this,

And towards it you were longing over time

And all along you had yearned for it.

O neighbors, life has become characterized by goodness in their proximity

يا جيرةً صفتِ الحياةُ بقربهم

يا جيرةً صفتِ الحياةُ بقربهم

وغدا بهم روضُ المسرة مونقا

وغدا بهم روضُ المسرة مونقا

O neighbors, whose nearness made life serene,

And because of them the garden of delight has become elegant

And through them the garden of joy grew lovely.

Do not think that I have ever been happy without you

لا تحسبوا أني سررتُ بغيركم

لا تحسبوا أني سررتُ بغيركم

مذ كان شملُ وصالنا متفرقا

مذ كان شملُ وصالنا متفرقا

Do not think I rejoiced in anyone but you,

Since our unity has been fragmented

Ever since our union was torn apart.

And I have no hope in life except through you

وحياتكم ما لي سواكم مرتجى

وحياتكم ما لي سواكم مرتجى

أبداً ولستُ بغيركم متعلقا

أبداً ولستُ بغيركم متعلقا

By your lives, I have no hope but you,

Never have I ever been attached to others

Ever; nor am I attached to anyone but you.
