حتامَuntil when تُطرفyou regale طرفَthe gaze عينيof my eye بالبُكاwith weeping
وإلامَand until when طرفيmy gaze مُولعٍenamored بطلاحِهof its ruin
How long will you treat my gaze to tears?
My eyes are surely inclined to weep,
And how long will my gaze be enamored of its own ruin?
Yet why are they inclined to his radiance?
نظريmy gaze الذيwhich فيin الحبlove قدindeed أفسدتُهI ruined it
وفسادهand its ruin فيin الحبlove عينُthe very essence of صلاحهits well-being
My gaze, which I have indeed ruined in love—
My gaze which in love I have corrupted,
And its ruin in love is its very well-being.
And its corruption in love is its rectitude.
ياO ويحَalas for مودعone who lodges سرِّهِhis secret فيin جفنهhis eyelid
فلقدfor indeed أرادhe sought السترَconcealment منfrom فضَّاحِهthe one who exposes him
Alas for one who lodges his secret in his eyelid!
Oh woe to him who has entrusted his secret to his eyelids!
For indeed he sought concealment from the one who exposes him.
For he has wished for concealment from his betrayer.
