We saw beauty that filled us with awe

We saw of beauty what enraptured us,

And set the embers of enchantment upon us.

And the embers of passion set us aflame.

فيا بائع العشق رفقا بنا

فيا بائع العشق رفقا بنا

ورفقا بأهداب هذي الجفون

ورفقا بأهداب هذي الجفون

So, O seller of love, be gentle with us,

O peddler of love, have mercy on us,

And gentle with the lashes of these eyelids.

And mercy on these fluttering eyelids.

نصون الغرام ونزكى له

نصون الغرام ونزكى له

ضراما لمن للهوى لا يصون

ضراما لمن للهوى لا يصون

We safeguard love and kindle for it

We guard our love and tend to it,

A blaze for one who does not safeguard passion.

Protecting it from those who do not cherish passion.

وهنّا على من وفينا له

وهنّا على من وفينا له

فأصبح جهرا لقلبي يخون

فأصبح جهرا لقلبي يخون

And we were held cheap by the one to whom we were faithful,

Yet we pine for one we were loyal to,

So he came to betray my heart openly.

Who now openly betrays my heart.
