No mourner wept for true beauty

As you made them weep with true poetry.

Indeed, I weep for that beautiful one

With beautiful poetry—and poetry is beautiful.

Indeed, a feast at which you are absent today

Is a feast absent from the soul's consciousness.

I did not know what color misfortunes were,

After a feast into which misfortunes plunged deep.

You dwell in the valley of darkness.

What bestowed on you the land of darkness?

The grave has shielded you from the treacherous world.

The world is nothing but delusion within delusion.

    And failure's glances are one-eyed,

Like what you glimpse in those full moons.

A moon gazes, hurt by its dark spots.

If only I knew what this infatuation is.

Indeed, it and love are a phantom of passion,

Through longing, it became an apparition of grief.

Ah, for a full moon whose moon is far away!

It has become for me a flash of enchantment.

O past, whose moon is far away,

Do not ask about me, nor about how I fare.

Indeed, after you, I am a phantom of imagination.

Indeed, after you, I am a spirit of beauty.

I compose poetry and yearn for the impossible.

So my life, after my loss of you, is impossible.

O beauty within beauty and beauty,

And majesty within majesty and majesty!
