أحلام روحي في الوجود

pictures whose beauty is like

my soul’s dreams in this world;

وكأنّ غيم ظلالها

وكأنّ غيم ظلالها

شاماتُ حسن في الخدود

شاماتُ حسن في الخدود

and the cloud of their shadows is like

beauty marks upon cheeks.

لولا التُقى لرأيتها

بالسحر أهلا للسجود

بالسحر أهلا للسجود

Were it not for piety, I would have deemed them

worthy of prostration for their enchantment.

لمحات روحي عندها

تهدى لمبدعها الخلود

تهدى لمبدعها الخلود

My soul’s glances, in their presence,

bestow immortality on their creator.

لم يبق بعد خلوده

لم يبق بعد خلوده

بالفن فنّانٌ جديد

بالفن فنّانٌ جديد

After his immortality, there remained

no new artist in art.

فهو الرشيد وحكمهُ

فهو الرشيد وحكمهُ

في أهل دولته رشيد

في أهل دولته رشيد

For he is al-Rashid, and his rule

among the people of his realm is wise.
