Today it befits me to hear the melody,

And to spend the night in Sanaa like the boon companions,

And to remain upon palms, enfolded

By white hopes that once were a dream for us.

Riyadh extended toward Sanaa, to shake her hand,

A palm; she generously stretched both her hands toward it.

And at his arrival she welcomed him with a countenance

Full of majesty, greeting him when he smiled.

God is greatest! This is a wondrous source of pride

For Muslims, vexing the Romans and the non-Arabs.

Through it we, the people of Islam, build a league,

Through which we safeguard faith and kinship as long as we live.

We strive and work sincerely to unite our world,

As those who united nations strove before us.

If, among humankind, the foot of one of us should slip,

We spring swiftly to him, lifting that foot.

Or if a Westerner rises under religious law, rivaling us,

We all rise against the Westerner to take revenge.

Let no foe reach any of us; come to drink

The water of love, and without concord, gulp blood.

Do not think there is honor in your fragmentation.

No indeed! And do the rebels among you two attain honor?

Revive Arab identity through unity, for unity is its

Spirit; death befalls it if that spirit is lost.

Rise and visit your capitals without delay.

Indeed, mutual visiting bears the mark it was given.

Cleanse your breasts; draw out their rancor.

You are fingertips and a building—so it is known.

And in closing, we offer you our greeting.

Then its sincerity will appear great to you.
