مَنَنتُ فَلا تَكفُر بَلائي وَنِعمَتي

مَنَنتُ فَلا تَكفُر بَلائي وَنِعمَتي

وَأَدِّ كَما أَدّاكَ يا زَيدُ سُلَّما

وَأَدِّ كَما أَدّاكَ يا زَيدُ سُلَّما

I have favored you, so do not be ungrateful for my service and my kindness.

I have favored you, so do not show ingratitude for my trials and blessings.

And return Sullam, O Zayd, just as he brought you safely back.

And repay as Zayd repaid you fully,

فَقَد كانَ مَيموناً عَلَيكَ فَأَدِّهِ

فَقَد كانَ مَيموناً عَلَيكَ فَأَدِّهِ

وَإِلّا تُؤَدّيهِ يَكُن مُهرَ أَشأَما

وَإِلّا تُؤَدّيهِ يَكُن مُهرَ أَشأَما

For he was auspicious for you, so return him.

For Maymun's favor to you was binding, so repay it,

And if you do not return him, he will be the colt of a most unlucky man.

And if you do not repay it, it will be a shameful dowry.
