I have confessed my love; even if my passion

Were within a rock, it would speak out.

You have robbed a lover of sound judgment,

Who sees no sin in love.

He could not bear what he faces,

So he tore his garments and cried out.

O you who bewilder the eyes, tell me:

Have your two eyes drunk wine?

My soul be a ransom for tresses and a cheek

That have brought night and morning together,

And for a scorpion unleashed upon us,

That fills our livers with wounds.

My heart has taken flight from longing for him,

So my longing has become a wing for it.
