تأهب ليوم الجزا والممات

فعما قليل يحل الفوات

Prepare for the Day of Recompense and for death.

For soon your chance will be lost.

تناسيت عرضك يوم الحساب

إلى كم وكم لم تفدك العظات

You have willfully forgotten being brought forth on the Day of Reckoning.

How long, how long have admonitions failed to benefit you?

تعاميت عن ذنبك المحتشى

عليك به موجبات الشتات

You have turned a blind eye to your sin, through which are heaped

Upon you the causes of scattering.

تعلق بجانب من لا يخيب

إليه المنيب الجزيل الهبات

Cling to the side of Him who never disappoints

The penitent turning to Him—the One lavish in gifts.

تذلل لديه بلين السؤال

وطول انكسارك حتى الممات

Humble yourself before Him with gentle supplication,

And prolong your contrition until death.

تعد بعد طول الجفا للصفا

وترق المعالي بتلك الصفات

You will return, after long estrangement, to purity,

And ascend to the heights through those qualities.

تناقص عمرك لما بدا

تزايد أفعالك المنكرات

Your lifespan dwindled as there appeared

An increase in your reprehensible deeds.

تمردت عن حسن لين القبول

لآيات موجدك البينات

You rebelled against the grace of gentle acceptance

Of your Creator's clear signs.

ترى ما جوابك لما غدا

تنادي بأفعالك المخزيات

I wonder, what will your answer be when, tomorrow,

You are summoned for your shameful deeds?

تروم النجاة بلا توبةٍ

وإن تبت يا صاح أين الثبات

You seek salvation without repentance,

And if you repent, O friend, where is steadfastness?
