كلَّما قلتُ سرَّ قَلبي الحزينُ

كلَّما قلتُ سرَّ قَلبي الحزينُ

ثارَ مِن عسكرِ الهموم كمينُ

ثارَ مِن عسكرِ الهموم كمينُ

Whenever I said, "My sorrowful heart has been gladdened,"

Whenever I reveal the secret of my sorrowful heart,

An ambush sprang up from the army of cares.

An ambush of worries arises,

فَكأنَّ السرورَ في وسط حصنٍ

فَكأنَّ السرورَ في وسط حصنٍ

حولهُ مِن صروف دَهري حصونُ

حولهُ مِن صروف دَهري حصونُ

It is as though joy were in the midst of a fortress,

So joy seems to be in the middle of a fortress,

With fortresses of my life's vicissitudes all around it.

Surrounded by the fortresses of my fate's turns.

أيُّها النفسُ بالمشفّع لوذي

أيُّها النفسُ بالمشفّع لوذي

فَسَيأتيكِ منه فتحٌ مبينُ

فَسَيأتيكِ منه فتحٌ مبينُ

O soul, take refuge with the intercessor whose plea is accepted;

O soul, take the intercessor as a refuge,

Then from him a manifest victory will come to you.

For through him you will attain a clear opening.

أَحمدُ المُصطفى محمّدٌ المخ

أَحمدُ المُصطفى محمّدٌ المخ

تار هادي الورى النبيّ الأمينُ

تار هادي الورى النبيّ الأمينُ

Ahmad, the Chosen, Muhammad, the

Ahmad is the Chosen One, Muhammad is the Guided One, the Prophet of mankind, the Trustworthy.

Elect, guide of humankind, the trustworthy Prophet.

The best of Allah's servants who excelled all people, past or future, in virtue.

خيرُ عبدٍ للَّه سادَ جميع ال

خيرُ عبدٍ للَّه سادَ جميع ال

خلقِ فضلاً من كان أو من يكونُ

خلقِ فضلاً من كان أو من يكونُ

The best servant of God, surpassing all

My thoughts of him are beautiful, and this thought, its expressed meaning is certain knowledge.

Creation in excellence—those who have been or will be.

My master, O Father of the Maiden, wars have confused me,

إنّ ظنّي فيه جميلٌ وهذا الظ

إنّ ظنّي فيه جميلٌ وهذا الظ

ظنُّ لفظٌ معناه علمٌ يقينُ

ظنُّ لفظٌ معناه علمٌ يقينُ

Indeed, my opinion of him is favorable, and this

Which of the afflictions is frailer?

"Opinion" is a word whose meaning is certain knowledge.

And my sins have burdened me, and my debts

سيّدي يا أبا البتولِ دَهتني

سيّدي يا أبا البتولِ دَهتني

أيُّ حَربٍ من الخطوب زبونُ

أيُّ حَربٍ من الخطوب زبونُ

My master, O father of al-Batul, I have been assailed

In rights that I have not fulfilled are pawned.

By such a fierce war of calamities!

This is my state, and I have, by Allah the Exalted, no one but you as a firm pillar.

وذُنوبي قد أثقَلَتني وديني

وذُنوبي قد أثقَلَتني وديني

بحقوقٍ لم أقضهنّ رهينُ

بحقوقٍ لم أقضهنّ رهينُ

And my sins have weighed me down, and my faith

So be pleased with me and be my intercessor,

Is held in pledge for obligations I have not fulfilled.

When you are pleased, every difficulty becomes easy.

هذهِ حالَتي وما لي لدى اللَ

هذهِ حالَتي وما لي لدى اللَ

هِ تعالى سواك ركنٌ متينُ

هِ تعالى سواك ركنٌ متينُ

This is my condition, and before God I have no

Steadfast refuge but you—exalted is He.

فاِرضَ عنّي وكُن شَفيعي إليهِ

فاِرضَ عنّي وكُن شَفيعي إليهِ

كلّ صَعبٍ إذا رضيت يهونُ

كلّ صَعبٍ إذا رضيت يهونُ

So be pleased with me, and be my intercessor with Him;

Every hardship becomes easy when you are pleased.
