He recalled the dwellings of Tayba,

and shed tears four by four.

My longing for her called me, but I was slow to respond,

    though I wished to hasten.

And were it not for my shackles of misfortune,

I would have been her obedient slave.

So, O lightning, by God, if you reach her,

and roam through her, dwelling by dwelling,

then go ahead: prostrate yourself upon her soil,

and make for the loftiest dwelling within her.

And convey my greeting to the Messenger of guidance,

    Muhammad, the most magnificent master.

And say: 'O most honored of humankind, a wretched man

has placed his hope in you for faith and worldly life together.

So intercede for him in both before God,

that He may grant him what is best and most beneficial.'

And I surely know him to be present:

he sees me, and I pray for him, making myself heard.

Yet he is the sun, the sun of guidance,

and Tayba has become his place of rising.
