O you who ascend above the poles of glory and tower over

the necks of all people, one and all, through your beauty.

I have come toward you, my master, placing my trust in you,

hoping from you for what the Most Merciful has bestowed upon you.

And I believe that I shall not be disappointed when

I place my hopes in one who was a lavish giver and a fierce slayer.

You have a shrine whose attendants were appointed by virtues [perhaps intended: the Creator]:

Gabriel and angels from the heavens.

    Until this became a source of pride for them;

and this is little for one who never knew polytheism.

And indeed, I was spurred on, and my hope's strength was fortified, by

reports of your excellence as they spread, and tidings of you.

Among them is your special distinction, O master of mankind, through

privileges with which God has singled you out.

And these are four qualities; the finest of them is:

God has never disappointed anyone who prays at your resting place.

Nor has any of his sick placed faith

in soil from a tomb containing your exalted self

without receiving healing through the virtue of your soil.

And that is no great thing if compared with you.

The days of one who visits do not count toward his lifespan,

until he returns to what he had left behind.

    لولاهم ما أراد الله أفلاكا

    And from you spring nine figures, our imams;

were it not for them, God would not have willed the celestial spheres.

For their sake, my master, I hope for deliverance tomorrow

from the reckoning and all I fear, through your progeny.

May God bless them as long as a celestial sphere runs its course,

and as long as we string poetry's pearls on threads.
