وإذا جدِدتَ فكلُّ شيءٍ نافعٌ

وإذا جدِدتَ فكلُّ شيءٍ نافعٌ

وإذا حددتَ فكلُّ شيءٍ ضائرُ

وإذا حددتَ فكلُّ شيءٍ ضائرُ

And when you are fortunate, everything is beneficial.

When you renew, all things become useful

And when you are unfortunate, everything is harmful.

When you confine, all things become harmful

وإذا أتاك مهلبيٌّ في الوغى

وإذا أتاك مهلبيٌّ في الوغى

والسيفُ في يده فنعم الناصرُ

والسيفُ في يده فنعم الناصرُ

And when a Muhallabi comes to you in battle,

And when a lion comes to you in the fray

And the sword is in his hand, then what an excellent defender he is!

With sword in hand, what an excellent ally
