إِنَّهاindeed, she بَينَbetween عامِرِʿĀmir بنِson of لُؤَيٍّLuʾayy
إِنَّها بَينَ عامِرِ بنِ لُؤَيٍّ
حينَwhen تُنمىher descent is traced وَبَينَand between عَبدِʿAbd مَنافِManāf
حينَ تُنمى وَبَينَ عَبدِ مَنافِ
Indeed, her lineage lies between ʿĀmir ibn Luʾayy,
when traced, and ʿAbd Manāf.
وَلَهاand she has فيamong الطَيِّبينَthe virtuous جُدودٌforefathers
وَلَها في الطَيِّبينَ جُدودٌ
ثَمَّthere نالَتshe attained مَكارِمَnoble qualities الأَخلافِthe succeeding generations
ثَمَّ نالَت مَكارِمَ الأَخلافِ
And she has forefathers among the virtuous;
there she gained the noble qualities of succeeding generations.
بِنتُdaughter of عَمِّthe paternal uncle of النَبِيِّthe Prophet أَكرَمُthe noblest مَنthose who
بِنتُ عَمِّ النَبِيِّ أَكرَمُ مَن
يَمشيwalks بِنَعلٍin a sandal عَلىupon التُرابِthe dust وَحافيand barefoot
يَمشي بِنَعلٍ عَلى التُرابِ وَحافي
The Prophet’s cousin is the noblest of those
who walk upon the dust, shod or barefoot.
لَنwill never تَراهاyou see her عَلىdespite التَبَدُّلِchange وَالغِلand harshness (continued next line)
لَن تَراها عَلى التَبَدُّلِ وَالغِل
ظَةِcompletion of “harshness” إِلّاexcept كُدُرَّةُlike a pearl الأَصدافِthe shells
ظَةِ إِلّا كُدُرَّةُ الأَصدافِ
You will never see her, despite change and harshness,
except as a pearl within its shell.
