وَساعٍ يَجمَعُ الأَموالَ جَمعاً
لِيورِثَهاto bequeath it أَعاديهِhis enemies شَقاءَmisery
لِيورِثَها أَعاديهِ شَقاءَ
And many a striver gathers wealth in heaps,
One toils to amass riches that he may bequeath
Only to bequeath it to his enemies, to his misery.
To foes who will waste them, so sad is his plight.
وَكَمand how many ساعٍa striver لِيُثريto become wealthy لَمdid not يَنَلهُattain it
وَكَم ساعٍ لِيُثري لَم يَنَلهُ
وَآخَرُand another ماnot سَعىstrove نالَattained الثَراءِwealth
وَآخَرُ ما سَعى نالَ الثَراءِ
And many a striver for riches never attained them,
How many have toiled to enrich themselves, but failed,
While another attained wealth without striving.
While others achieved wealth without toil or travail.
وَمَنand whoever يَستَعتِبِseeks amends from الحَدَثانِthe turns of fate يَوماًone day

And whoever one day seeks amends from the turns of fate,
He who would chide the vicissitudes of fate
That reproach will be a hardship for him.
Will but increase his own distress and pain.
