وَقَد كُلِّلَ إِكليلاً

وَقَد كُلِّلَ إِكليلاً

مِنَ الياقوتِ أَلوانا

مِنَ الياقوتِ أَلوانا

And he has been crowned with a circlet

A crown of variegated rubies has been placed upon my head,

of rubies in many hues;

Around me are nobles like myself, my slaves and my servants.

وَحَولي سادَةٌ مِثلي

وَحَولي سادَةٌ مِثلي

عَبيداً لي وَغِلمانا

عَبيداً لي وَغِلمانا

and around me are lords like myself,

So to me no one is great, no matter who they once had been.

as slaves and young servants to me.

فَما يَعظُمُ في عَيني

فَما يَعظُمُ في عَيني

عَظيمٌ كانَ مَن كانا

عَظيمٌ كانَ مَن كانا

So none seems great in my eyes,

however great, whoever he may be.
