سائِلُAsk مُراداًMurād يُنْبِيكَwill tell you عالِمُهاits knowledgeable one
سائِلُ مُراداً يُنْبِيكَ عالِمُها
أَنَّاthat we نُعِلُّgive a second draught to القَناthe lances وَنُنْهِلُهاand give them a first draught
أَنَّا نُعِلُّ القَنا وَنُنْهِلُها
Ask Murād; one who knows it will tell you
That we give the lances their second draught and their first.
وَنُخْمِدُand we quench الحَرْبَwar حينَwhen يُضْرِمُهاhe kindles it
وَنُخْمِدُ الحَرْبَ حينَ يُضْرِمُها
أَهْلُthe people of الوَغَىbattle تارَةًat times وَنُشْعِلُهاand we kindle it
أَهْلُ الوَغَى تارَةً وَنُشْعِلُها
And we quench war when it is kindled
By warriors—at times—and we set it ablaze.
