وَإِنّيand indeed I لَأَستَحيِيsurely feel ashamed مِنَbefore اللَهِGod أَنto أَرىsee
وَإِنّي لَأَستَحيِي مِنَ اللَهِ أَن أَرى
رَديفَa rider behind another وِصالٍamorous union أَوor عَلَيَّupon me رَديفُa rider behind another
رَديفَ وِصالٍ أَو عَلَيَّ رَديفُ
And indeed I am ashamed before God to see myself
I am too shy before God to pursue
riding behind another in love, or with another riding behind me;
a chance meeting or to let chance pursue me.

and to come to well-trodden water in hope of reward,
And to expect watering when the pool is low,
and pursue a bond from you while it is weak.
or to add one weak bond to another from you.
وَإِنِّيَand indeed I لِلماءِtoward the water المُخالِطِmingled لِلقَذىwith floating debris
وَإِنِّيَ لِلماءِ المُخالِطِ لِلقَذى

وَإِن كَثُرَت وُرّادُهُ لَعَيوفُ
And indeed, to water mingled with floating debris,
I spurn water mixed with filth although
even if many come to drink it, I am deeply averse.
its scoopers may be many and ardent.
