Alas! Will the nights of al-Shadiyakh return,
For as long as I live, I yearn for them.

For that, my heart remains ever terrified,
Thus my heart remains restless,
and my tears for the loss of the beloved lie still.
And my tears flow for the loss of my beloved.

With my soul I ransom the one whose union I love,
and his desire longs for union with me and requites my love.
Who desires my union, inclining toward me.

Yet my time refuses - how strange!
