يا رجلاً خفَّ عندهَ الثِقَلُ

يا رجلاً خفَّ عندهَ الثِقَلُ

حتى به صار يُضربُ المثلُ

حتى به صار يُضربُ المثلُ

O man beside whom heaviness itself grew light,

O man who has lightened his heavy load

until you became a byword.

So that he becomes the subject of parables

ثَقُلت حتى لقد خَفَفَتَ كما

ثَقُلت حتى لقد خَفَفَتَ كما

سَمُجتَ حتى مَلحْتَ يا رجلُ

سَمُجتَ حتى مَلحْتَ يا رجلُ

You grew so heavy that you indeed became light, just as

You have lightened yourself until indeed you became weightless

you grew so graceless that you became charming, O man.

As you have become insipid until you became savory, O man
