أقول لأصحابي ونحن بقُومسٍ

أقول لأصحابي ونحن بقُومسٍ

ونحن على أثباجِ ساهمةً جردِ

ونحن على أثباجِ ساهمةً جردِ

I say to my companions, while we are in Qūmis,

I say to my friends as we are in Qumis

and we are on the backs of gaunt, short-haired mounts:

And we are on the humps of Sāhima barren

بَعُدنا وبيتِ اللَهِ عن أرض قَرقَرَى

بَعُدنا وبيتِ اللَهِ عن أرض قَرقَرَى

وعن قاعِ مَوحوُشٍ وزِدنا على البُعدِ

وعن قاعِ مَوحوُشٍ وزِدنا على البُعدِ

We have gone far, by the House of God, from the land of Qarqarā,

Our distance from Allah's house and the land of Qarqara

and from the plain of Mawḥūsh, and we have gone farther still.

And from the valley of Māwḥūsh we went farther still
