فارِعَةُ الجِسمِ هَضيمُ الحَشا

فارِعَةُ الجِسمِ هَضيمُ الحَشا

كَالمُهرَةِ الضامِرِ لَم تُركَبِ

كَالمُهرَةِ الضامِرِ لَم تُركَبِ

Tall in stature, slender of waist,

Slender of body, fleet of foot

Like a lean filly never ridden,

Like an unmounted pearl

أَو دُرَّةٍ ساعَةَ ما اِستُخرِجَت

أَو دُرَّةٍ ساعَةَ ما اِستُخرِجَت

لَم تُمتَهَن بَعدُ وَلَم تُثقَبِ

لَم تُمتَهَن بَعدُ وَلَم تُثقَبِ

Or a pearl at the moment it was extracted,

Or a gem just extracted

Not yet put to use, nor pierced.

Not yet pierced or strung

مَشرَبَةُ اللَونِ مُتوعَ الضُحى

مَشرَبَةُ اللَونِ مُتوعَ الضُحى

صَفراءَ بِالآصالِ كَالمُذهَبِ

صَفراءَ بِالآصالِ كَالمُذهَبِ

Her complexion is rosy at the height of morning,

Of a rosy complexion in the morning glow

Yellow in the late afternoons, like something gilded.

Golden yellow, like gold itself
