Praise be to God, to humble whoever disbelieved,

And after Him, to a physician whose kindness overflowed.

A noble man through whom God, the Generous, sent to

His servants a mercy through which He gives life to humankind.

He is the kind man whose care revived

Our Khalil, who has attained recovery.

Pure of heart, he answers whoever seeks refuge in him

At once, and mends that seeker's broken heart.

He frees the patient, whenever he comes to visit him,

From needing medicine, through his dazzling kindness.

O you unequaled in grace, in form and character,

And gatherer of excellence into a necklace that rivals pearls!

Such qualities—if describers recited them over

One afflicted with many kinds of illness, he would recover.

You have laid on us a weight of kindness we cannot bear,

Nor can praise do it justice, whether long or short.

You mended a broken heart when it called on you, and no

Hope it held for your kindness went unfulfilled.

We praise you with sweet gratitude so long as there rises

The sun, and so long as the full moon journeys under cover of darkness.
