هذهthis قرينةُwife of نجمNajm شبليShibli قدhas ثَوَتlain at rest
هذه قرينةُ نجم شبلي قد ثَوَت
فيin تربةٍa grave حيثwhere الإِلهُGod دَعاهاcalled her
في تربةٍ حيث الإِلهُ دَعاها
Here rests Najm Shibli’s wife, who has come to rest
This is Najm Shibli's wife, now laid to rest
in the earth, where God summoned her.
In a grave, where God called her.
سَارَتshe went علىin عَجَلٍhaste لتَلقَىto meet نجلَهاher son
سَارَت على عَجَلٍ لتَلقَى نجلَها
فيin جَنَّةٍa paradise طابتwas pleasant لهُfor him سكناهَاdwelling in it
في جَنَّةٍ طابت لهُ سكناهَا
She journeyed in haste to meet her son
She went in haste to meet her son
in a Garden where her dwelling was pleasant to her.
In a paradise where it was sweet for him to dwell.
عَاشَتshe lived بمَرضاةin the favor of الإِلَهِGod وبرّهِand His benevolence
عَاشَت بمَرضاة الإِلَهِ وبرّهِ
فَغَداand so He came to بفَردوسwith the Paradise of النَّعيمِbliss جَزَاهاrewarded her
فَغَدا بفَردوس النَّعيمِ جَزَاها
She lived in God’s good pleasure and His bounty,
She lived in God's favor and His benevolence,
and so the Paradise of Bliss became her reward.
And so He rewarded her with the Paradise of Bliss.
ولذاand therefore أتىcame التاريخُthe chronogram يَدعوcalling out قائِلاًsaying
ولذا أتى التاريخُ يَدعو قائِلاً
تَروِيwater مَراحمُthe mercies of ربهاher Lord مَثوَاهاher resting place
تَروِي مَراحمُ ربها مَثوَاها
Thus came the chronogram, uttering this prayer:
And thus the chronogram came, proclaiming:
May her Lord’s mercies water her resting place.
May her Lord's mercies water her resting place.
