ترقّب إذا جنّ الظلام زيارتي

ترقّب إذا جنّ الظلام زيارتي

فإنّي رأيت الليل أكتم للسرِّ

فإنّي رأيت الليل أكتم للسرِّ

Await my visit when darkness falls.

For I have found the night better at keeping secrets.

وَبي منك ما لو كانَ بالشمسِ لم تلح

وَبي منك ما لو كانَ بالشمسِ لم تلح

وبالبدر لم يطلع وَبالنجم لم يسرِ

وبالبدر لم يطلع وَبالنجم لم يسرِ

And what is in me because of you, were it in the sun, would keep it from shining;

And were it in the full moon, it would not rise; and in the star, it would not journey.
