When I die, O Umm al-Hunaykil, then marry;
If you die, O mother of separation, then marry,
And do not hope for reunion after parting.
And hope not after parting for a meeting;
فَإِنَّfor indeed الَّذيwhat حُدِّثتِهِyou were told it مِنof لِقائِناour reunion

For what you were told of our reunion
For that of which you told about our meeting,
Is tales of Tasm that leave the mind feeble.
Were vain discourses that leave reason wandering.
