Many a house, as though it were an arrow's shaft,

We shall come to it from the villages of Beirut,

From lands that are not our own.

Whenever I came toward them—greetings to you,

O Umm Sallam! May you always fare well,

Then may you remain my paradise as long as you live.

With rapture toward you, and longing and yearning,

At my remembrance of you and the sweetness of the night's lodging,

Wherever I was among the lands, and wherever you traveled,

So may God protect you from what you have feared.
