    I recognized the deserted dwelling,

Worn away after years had passed.

Every rumbling raincloud had effaced it,

Fierce in its downpour, pouring abundantly.

It belonged to Salma, the delight of my eye,

And my cousin on both my father's and mother's sides.

Today, for Salma, I put up

    Stakes that consumed my wealth.

As though the saliva from her mouth

Were powdered musk amid red wine.
