أَنا الوَليدُ أبو العَبّاسِ قد عَلِمت

أَنا الوَليدُ أبو العَبّاسِ قد عَلِمت

عُليا مَعَدٍّ مَدى كَرّي وَإِقدامي

عُليا مَعَدٍّ مَدى كَرّي وَإِقدامي

I am al-Walīd, Abū al-ʿAbbās; well known

I am Al-Walid, son of Abu Al-'Abbas, I have known

To Maʿadd’s noblest is the reach of my charges and my daring.

The heights of glory, how far my generosity and daring have extended

إِنّي لَفي الذُروَةِ العُليا إِذا نُسِبوا

إِنّي لَفي الذُروَةِ العُليا إِذا نُسِبوا

مُقابَلٌ بَينَ أَخوالي وَأَعمامي

مُقابَلٌ بَينَ أَخوالي وَأَعمامي

Indeed, I am at the highest summit when their lineages are traced,

I stand at the highest peak when they trace lineage

Noble on both sides, among my maternal and paternal uncles.

Peer of my uncles and cousins in glory

بَني لِيَ المَجدَ بانٍ غَيرُ مُدَّرَكٍ

بَني لِيَ المَجدَ بانٍ غَيرُ مُدَّرَكٍ

عَلى مَنارِ مُضيئاتٍ وَأَعلامِ

عَلى مَنارِ مُضيئاتٍ وَأَعلامِ

A builder none can match built glory for me,

With pillars not to be reached, my glory built for me

Upon shining beacons and landmarks.

On the minarets of radiant signs and flags

خُلِقتُ مِن جَوهرِ الأَعياضِ قَد عَلِموا

خُلِقتُ مِن جَوهرِ الأَعياضِ قَد عَلِموا

في باذِخٍ مُشَمخرِّ العِزِّ قَمقامِ

في باذِخٍ مُشَمخرِّ العِزِّ قَمقامِ

I was fashioned from the essence of the Aʿyāḍ, as they know,

I was created from the essence of high spirit, they knew

In a towering height, lofty in honor and mighty,

In an imposing, lofty, most honoured stature

صَعبِ المَرامِ يُناغي النَجمَ مَطلَعُهُ

صَعبِ المَرامِ يُناغي النَجمَ مَطلَعُهُ

يَسمو إِلى فَرعِ مِجدٍ شامِخٍ سامِ

يَسمو إِلى فَرعِ مِجدٍ شامِخٍ سامِ

Hard to reach, its summit murmurs to the star;

Of difficult ambition, his star rising to rival the stars

It soars to the crown of towering, exalted glory.

Ascending to the branch of towering, lofty glory
