Proud of your heroic history, stride in splendor.

Write the book of your glory in the martyr's blood.

May you ever remain Islam's most impregnable stronghold.

O birthplace of free men, brothers of Hashim,

The upright, the reverent, the devoted,

Firm in faith, he never lost heart, nor

Bowed to a tyrant or abased himself.

Like a mountain whose peaks mock the winds,

And keep their south wind apart from the north.

And a noble-born woman, towering in stature,

Has dwelt in the loftiest abode on high.

She committed no sin save her belief

In the justice of Islam, not in the sickle.

O Hafsa of al-Faruq in our own days,

O you who will be held up as an example in the future!

From a spiteful man or a godless libertine.

Mother of the Two Springs, forgive a suffering man,

With choking grief, reflection, and endurance.

Your eye slumber, like one who endures with dignity.

And you saw vile unbelief, spurred on

By hatred of your deeply rooted Islam.

So you cried out in the tyrants' faces, unbowed,

While people invoked 'To God we belong and return' or 'No power or might but through God.'

And you stood firm against affliction, as those of old stood,

And so exposed every charlatan and deceiver.

And you unfurled the banners of sacrifice, fluttering

Above the hills like Spica, the Unarmed Star.

You guarded Muhammad's religion from an oppressor,

A tyrant, and from an overbearing, debased man.

O young men of al-Hadba, you are an example

For those rising to action, loyal and perfect in virtue,

Truthful when others falter in speech,

And fighters of the first rank,

And steadfast when calamities crowd together,

Armoring themselves against them with the noblest patience.

To be recited at gatherings through the passing ages?

Do not forget protected honor, defiled

By a brute raised in the lowest depths.

Do not forget the Qur'an: blindness tore it apart

In hatred, and trampled its letters underfoot.

O young men of al-Hadba, guard your faith,

And let it boil in your breasts like a cauldron,

So that we may repel every tainted creed

With a loftier faith and a better path,

And spread among the generations the clearest idea,

Founded on the guidance of the revealed Book,

And thwart the atheists' plotting with resolve

That has never strayed or changed,

And march on, while history bears witness that we

Have followed the path of the Prophet, the Messenger.
