غير مستنكر وغير بديع

ان يبين الذي تجنّ ضلوعي

ان يبين الذي تجنّ ضلوعي

It is neither strange nor novel

Not strange, nor wondrous to behold,

That what my ribs conceal should come to light.

That he whose ribs were torn and bold

لي دموع كأنّها من حديث

لي دموع كأنّها من حديث

وحديث كأنه من دموعي

وحديث كأنه من دموعي

I have tears as though they come from speech,

Sheds tears, as though from recent talks

And speech as though it comes from my tears.

And talks as though from weeping, walks
