نزلنَا بِهِ حتّى إذَا يومُنا انقضَى

نزلنَا بِهِ حتّى إذَا يومُنا انقضَى

رحلنا على العيسِ النّجائِب والجُرْدِ

We camped there until, when our day had passed,

We descended with it until our day had passed

We departed on noble pale camels and sleek horses.

We traveled on camels, she-camels, and onyx-colored camels

نؤُمُّ بها البيتَ العتيقَ ونبتغِي

نؤُمُّ بها البيتَ العتيقَ ونبتغِي

من النَّارِ عتقاً جاءَ في سابِقِ الوعدِ

من النَّارِ عتقاً جاءَ في سابِقِ الوعدِ

We make for the Ancient House on them, and seek

We head towards the Ancient House and seek

Deliverance from the Fire, set forth in the promise of old.

Deliverance from the fire, fulfilling an early promise

فيا مَنْ قصدْنَا بيتَه ونبيَّهُ

فيا مَنْ قصدْنَا بيتَه ونبيَّهُ

بكَ العَوْذُ يا مولاَي مِن خَيْبَةِ القَصْدِ

بكَ العَوْذُ يا مولاَي مِن خَيْبَةِ القَصْدِ

So, O You whose House and Prophet we have sought,

So O You whose House we sought and whose Prophet

In You is refuge, O my Lord, from a fruitless quest.

In You, my Master, is protection from disappointed hopes
