ياO جائراًunjust one وهوايَand my love يَعذُرَهexcuses him
منكfrom you الذّنوبُthe wrongs ومنِّيَand from me العُذْرُthe excuse
O unjust one, whom my love excuses,
O unjust one though my love excuses you
From you come the wrongs; from me, the excuses.
The sins are from you, the excuses from me
لاdo not تحسَبنِّيthink me عَنregarding مَلالِكَyour weariness ليof me
غِرّاnaive ولكنَّand yet الهوىlove غَرُّa deceiver
Do not think me, regarding your weariness of me,
Think not that I am unwearied of you
Naive—but love is a deceiver.
Only the passion is deceitful
وأرىand I see سبيلَthe path الهجرِof parting واضِحةًclear
مسلوكةًtraversable لوif كانthere were ليfor me صبْرُpatience
And I see the path of parting clear,
And I see the way of separation clear
Traversable, if only I had patience.
If only I had the patience to take it
