  1. شكا ألم الفراق الناس قلبي

    وروع بالنوى حي وميت

    My heart complained to the people of the pain of separation.

    And the living and the dead were terrified by parting.

  2. وأما مثل ما ضمت ضلوعي

    فإني ما سمعت ولا رأيت

    But as for the like of what my ribs enclose,

    I have neither heard of it nor seen it.
