They all offer affection in

They all show affection in times of ease

prosperity, but they are enemies to the poor.

But shun you in hardship

فاعتزلهم ففي انفرادك منهم

فاعتزلهم ففي انفرادك منهم

راحة النفس من حذار وذل

راحة النفس من حذار وذل

So withdraw from them, for in your solitude away from them

So I isolated myself from them

lies the soul's relief from fear and humiliation.

For in your seclusion from them lies the soul's respite from caution and humiliation
